Toronto – June 22, 2019 – In celebration of the first Filipino Heritage Month in Canada, Philippine Advancement through Arts and Culture (PATAC) recently highlighted inspiring individuals of Filipino Heritage at a week-long exhibit held at the City of Toronto’s Metro Hall.
Ottawa – June 21, 2019 – June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day. This is a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. The Canadian Constitution recognizes these three groups as Aboriginal peoples, also known as Indigenous peoples.
Winnipeg – June 19, 2019 – UFCW Canada Local 832 members working at the Reh-Fit Centre in Winnipeg have voted unanimously in favour of a new union contract that provides wage gains, increased RRSP contributions, and more.
Hamilton and Ottawa, Ont.– June 18, 2019 – Commissionaires security guards working at federal government buildings in Hamilton and Ottawa are the newest members of UFCW Canada Local 333 after voting to join the union.
Toronto – June 17, 2019 – From June 11 to 12, UFCW Canada leaders, Indigenous members, and allies came together in Toronto for the UFCW Canada National Indigenous Peoples Conference, where participants engaged in two days of education and celebration of the upcoming National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21.
