1,200 Pennsylvania packinghouse workers join UFCW

On October 5, 1,200 packinghouse workers voted to join UFCW Local 1776, which represents over 24,000 workers in Pennsylvania, Maryland and New York.

The new packinghouse members work for the Brazilian firm JBS-Swift at its massive operation in Souderton, PA.

With the Souderton victory, the UFCW now represents 27,000 JBS workers, and over 275,000 meat and poultry workers in the United States and Canada.
