UFCW Canada digital efforts net awards at ILCA

UFCW Canada has been honoured with four awards from the International Labor Communications Association (ILCA) — including the top award for overall best labour website in North America.

The 2011 ILCA Awards were presented on September 24, honouring outstanding print and electronic communications by labour organizations in 2010.  ILCA is the professional organization of labour communicators in North America, with several hundred national and local unions competing for the awards.

www.ufcw.ca netted three awards, including the top Award for General Excellence by a national or international North American union. www.ufcw.ca also won a second-place Award for Best Content, as well as a third-place Award for Best Design.

UFCW Canada's weekly digital news magazine Directions was also honoured by ILCA with a second place Award for Best Electronic Newsletter.

"Good communication is vital to serving the membership and UFCW Canada Local Unions," says National President Hanley. "Through our websites, and e-newsletters, and our social network sites, we're committed to a strong voice in all media — to build our great union, strengthen the membership, and to make workers' issues a top priority in all communities."
