Pension plans and retirement savings have been hit hard by the economic crisis. Many RRSP’s and other private pensions that invested heavily in stock and financial markets have seen their investments lose much of their value. The retirement security of many workers in Canada is at risk.

There is a solution: improve the CPP — Canada’s public pension plan — to ensure that you retire with dignity and economic security. UFCW Canada and other affiliates of the Canadian Labour Congress have developed a plan that would double CPP benefits and provide retirement security for all recipients. To make this happen, it requires passage by the House of Commons — and the support of every provincial government in the country.

You can make it happen. Send a message to federal Minister of Finance Jim Flaherty and to your provincial finance minister. Tell them you support retirement security for everyone.
