Sobeys office workers achieve new contract – UFCW 501

Montreal – August 2, 2014 – UFCW Canada Local 501 members working at the Sobeys Quebec regional office in Montreal, Quebec recently ratified a new six-year collective agreement. The 140 office workers overwhelmingly voted in favour of their new contract, which creates 16 positions with the oil sector and establishes an in-house mechanism for the posting of 32 other positions.

The agreement increases wages by 3 percent in the first year and 2 percent in each of the following five years, while maintaining existing health and welfare benefits. The Sobeys members will also receive a training allowance, a lead hand premium, an increase in shift bonuses, and additional RRSP contributions from their employer.
