   Members at Sherbrooke Entrepôts Presto achieve new contract – UFCW 500Sherbrooke, Que. – February 17, 2015 – UFCW Canada Local 500 members at the Entrepôts Presto in Sherbrooke have achieved a new collective agreement that includes payment for all floating holidays that they have not been taken advantage of by the end of the year.

Other improvements to the contract include an increase in the employer’s participation in the pension plan from $0.70 to $0.80 per hour worked. The employer has also committed to increase its contribution to the Régime de soins dentaires des membres des TUAC Québec (‘‘dental plan for UFCW members in Quebec’’) from $0.18 to $0.19 per hour worked if the employees’ contribution proves to be insufficient as per this dental plan’s scales.

This new union contract also includes wage increases for workers who are on top of the salary range. These increases will vary between 1.5% and 2% a year for a total of 11% by the end of the term of the collective agreement, which includes a 2% increase retroactively to November 2014. Moreover these workers will receive a lump sum payment corresponding to 1% of their total wage earned in 2015 as well as that in 2018.

UFCW Local 500 President Antonio Filato said he was very happy to see that such an agreement had been reached after both parties, through mutual respect by union members and management alike. ‘‘That is what made this positive outcome possible, based on how our members voted and what they had to say.
