Members at Centennial Foods ratify new contract - UFCW Local 247

Richmond, B.C. – March 14, 2015 – UFCW Canada Local 247 members at Centennial Foods in Richmond, British Columbia have achieved a new contract that brings improvements to benefits, working conditions and much more in a five-year collective agreement.

Members will receive yearly wage increases, and will also receive a $500 signing bonus. The union's bargaining committee also ensured increases and improvements to benefits for new hires and part-timers, as well as vacation entitlement.

Part-time employees will also now qualify for sick leave and bonus programs, such as attendance programs. There were also improvements to first aid premiums and safety shoe allowances.

"I first want to thank the negotiation committee for a great job in reaching a settlement with Centennial Foods,” said UFCW Canada Local 247 President Suzanne Hodge. “We are proud of the improvements made for part-timers and new hires, and all members will now see vacation entitlement quicker along with a signing bonus and yearly wage increases. These are just some of the highlights of belonging to a union."

Centennial Foods is home to more than 80 UFCW Canada Local 247 members.
