Members at Malteurop brew new five-year deal – UFCW 832Winnipeg – May 9, 2015 – UFCW Local 832 members at Malteurop in Winnipeg, Manitoba have overwhelmingly ratified a new five-year collective agreement.

Malteurop is the exclusive producer of malt for Moosehead Brewery along with micro-breweries such as Half Pints Brewing Company in Winnipeg.

In the new collective agreement, members will receive a 12.5 per cent wage increase over the life of the agreement. Along with wage improvements, the contract now includes a pension, and a health and welfare benefit plan, which were both previously outside of the agreement.

The agreement also presented an on-call pay for trades, and improved the $1 premium for Saturday and Sunday work to include all members.

"This is a strong agreement for members at Malteurop," says UFCW Canada Local 832 President Jeff Traeger. "We were able to negotiate a new contract that brings necessary improvements such as the benefit plan as well as expanding the weekend premium for all workers.”
