Quinte Humane Society ratifies first collective agreement – UFCW 175

Belleville, Ont. – June 1, 2015 – UFCW Local 175 members working at Quinte Humane Society in Belleville, Ontario have ratified their first collective agreement.

Quinte Humane Society is an animal shelter dedicated to providing temporary shelter and care for animals as well as promote the prevention of cruelty to animals that are neglected, abused, exploited, stray or homeless.

The new three-year contract provides grievance and arbitration procedures and enhanced job security to members, as well as wage increases and bereavement.

Full-time bargaining unit members will receive an additional sick day each year and those with 10 years of service or more will now have four weeks of vacation entitlement.

The union negotiating committee included Amy Collins and Union Representative Dean McLaren.
