Canada Day – July 1

Canada Day – July 1

Toronto – June 29, 2015 – Each year on the first of July, we honour everything that we are proud of as Canadians. For citizens from coast to coast, Canada Day is a time to reflect upon our country's incredible history and diverse cultures, while celebrating the country that we all call home.

This July 1, let us engage in a conversation about our collective future as workers in Canada, and commit ourselves to preserving our fundamental rights and freedoms as Canadians, including our labour rights.

As we reflect on what it means to be Canadian, we need to remind ourselves that strengthening workers' rights is essential to maintaining and improving the Canadian way of life, and that we must work together to build a country that leaves no one behind.

This Canada Day, let us recommit to building a stronger Canada based on equality and opportunity for all. I wish you and your family a very happy Canada Day.

In solidarity,

Paul R. Meinema
National President
