UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship Winner: Leila Slaoui

Dorval, Que. – July 30, 2015 – Leila Slaoui is one of eighteen UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winners for 2014.

Currently completing her Civil Engineering degree at the Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, Leila is the daughter of Joanne Gaudreau, a proud UFCW Canada Local 500 member who works at E.F. Yvan Caron in Dorval, Quebec.

Sister Slaoui had the following to say about winning a UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship:

"I feel very privileged to be selected as a scholarship recipient, and I would like to thank UFCW Canada for the amazing support. This scholarship means a lot to me, and it will provide me with additional motivation to pursue my dreams in engineering and sustainable development."

Every year UFCW Canada offers a total of eighteen union scholarships worth $1,000 each to members, their spouses, and dependants for post-secondary education. The BDM scholarship was created to honour past UFCW leaders William Beggs, Fred Dowling, and Romeo Mathieu.
