UFCW Canada celebrates 2015 Toronto Caribana

Toronto – August 4, 2015 – The streets of Toronto were filled with bright costumes and lively music as UFCW Canada members, activists and leaders continued a longstanding tradition marching in the annual Toronto Caribana festivities.

Canada's leading union joined with over a million visitors, spectators and revelers from across the globe to participate in the festive Caribana Parade, a massive cultural celebration that takes place every year along Toronto's waterfront. The parade serves as the culmination of three weeks of Caribana festivities.

Participants in the carnival parade dressed in flamboyant costumes dazzled with feathers and tassels. The atmosphere was filled with the sounds of popular music from the Caribbean and the streets were adorned with flags of Caribbean countries.     

Since its inception in 1967, Toronto's Caribana event has become one of North America's largest international festivals. Over the past decade, UFCW Canada has taken centre stage at the Caribana Parade with the multi-award winning Louis Saldenah Mas-K Club.

The annual parade is another highlight of UFCW Canada's ongoing commitment to being Canada's most diverse union, through events such as Caribana and Local Union initiatives like the 2015 UFCW Canada Summer Splash.
