In addition, under the new contract, National Aboriginal Day, June 21, will be recognized as a paid statutory holiday – a breakthrough in a collective agreement. The new contract also features contract language that improves the health and safety of members.

"We're proud to welcome these new members to UFCW Canada, and extremely happy that they were able to negotiate a contract that provides fairness on the job and a better quality of life," says UFCW Canada Local 206 President Wayne Hanley. "The achievements made in this contract will benefit generations to come, including the recognition of National Aboriginal Day as a statutory holiday," Brother Hanley adds.

Opened over two years ago, and located in the heart of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands, the Manitoulin Hotel & Conference Centre offers guests a unique experience with a theme centred around First Nations art, architecture, food and culture.
