Members at S. Gumperts achieve new contract – UFCW 175  Mississauga, Ont. – November 27, 2015 – Members at S. Gumperts of Canada have achieved a new collective agreement at the bakery supply and private-label packager in Mississauga. The approximately 40-member bargaining unit ratified the new agreement on November 15, 2015.

The contract includes wage improvements in the form of a $400 lump sum payment effective the date of ratification, plus subsequent increases totalling 50 cents per hour over the next two years in the contract term. Vision care coverage improves to $300, up from $250, and workers benefit from the implementation of a drug card. A new Long-Term Disability (LTD) plan will be available subject to 100% member participation.

Improved language provides end of year payout for unused vacation days, new vacation selection by seniority, and shift preference by seniority.

The union negotiating committee included Janeta Brown, Lala Rajalingam, and UFCW Canada Local 175 representative John DiNardo.
