UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winner: Remi Garlock-Cisna, UFCW 1400

UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winner: Remi Garlock-Cisna, UFCW 1400Melfort, Sask. – January 16, 2016 – Remi Garlock-Cisna is one of eighteen UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winners for 2015 (to apply for the 2016 UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship, click here).

Currently in her first year of the Bachelor of Science program at the University of Toronto Scarborough campus, Remi is a proud UFCW Canada Local 1400 member who works at the Extra Foods grocery store in Melfort, Saskatchewan.

Sister Garlock-Cisna had the following to say about winning a UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship:

"I am very happy to have been chosen for the UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship. This award means a lot to me as it will put me in a better financial position to pursue my educational goals. Financial assistance of any kind is extremely helpful since I grew up in a single parent home where we didn't always have enough money to get by. As such I am paying for my education myself and with the help of government loans. This scholarship takes a lot of pressure off of my shoulders and will help me repay my student loans faster."

Every year UFCW Canada offers a total of eighteen union scholarships worth $1,000 each to members, their spouses, and dependants for post-secondary education. The BDM scholarship was created to honour past UFCW leaders William Beggs, Fred Dowling, and Romeo Mathieu.

Applications for the 2016 UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship are now open. To find out more about this renowned union scholarship, or to apply online, click here.
