“Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed.”
― Mahatma Gandhi
There is overwhelming evidence that our planet is warming to the point that ice caps are melting at an alarming rate, sea levels are rising, and severe storms are becoming more frequent.
There is a global movement by environmental groups and governments to take care of our planet. We must all do our part to ensure the survival and protection of our environment.
All living things are interdependent in one way or another within our environment, including ourselves. Taking care of our planet is everyone’s responsibility, and we need to take action today, for the benefit of our planet tomorrow.
As one of Canada’s leading and most progressive organizations, UFCW Canada is keen to working with progressive partners and allies to explore new ways to lower greenhouse gases, and be good environmental stewards.
UFCW Canada is supporting the Chevron’s Dirty Hand Tour, a campaign demanding justice for thousands of people who have been poisoned, displaced, or killed by Chevron’s devastation of the environment around the world.
UFCW Canada is also a partner organization of York University’s Adapting Canadian work and workplaces to respond to climate change (ACW) and Working in a Warming World (W3).
The increase in anthropogenic (man-made) greenhouse gases contributes to the increase of the global temperature that will inevitably lead to catastrophe for mankind.
To learn more about these issues, UFCW Canada offers free webCampus courses for members and their families.
