Members at Coca-Cola in Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie achieve new contract – UFCW 175

Mississauga, Ont. – May 20, 2016 – UFCW Canada Local 175 members working at Coca-Cola facilities in Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario have ratified a new collective agreement.

The five-year agreement features a variety of improvements including wage increases and language changes. Members at both locations will receive a 5.5% wage increase over the life of the deal as well as an additional lump sum payment of $600 in the second year. As per the new agreement, workers will also receive an improved safety boot allowance of $175 per year, up from $155, with an additional increase to $185 in 2018.

The agreement also features an increase to the Short-Term Disability Benefit and new vacation language that allows for more weeks available during busy seasons. Other language improvements increase the number of bargaining committee members to four; up from three.

The bargaining committee included Robert Gies, Adam Hayes, Al Roy and union representative Jeff Barry.
