Members at Clifton's No Frills achieve new contract – UFCW 1400

Estevan, Sask. – July 2, 2016 – UFCW Canada Local 1400 members working at Clifton's No Frills in Estevan have ratified a new collective agreement that brings wage increases, language changes, improved benefits, and more.

The new five-year contract features wage increases of $0.25 to $0.30 in each year as well as a lump sum payment in the second year. The contract also adds language to allow for greater access to union representatives to meet with member, as well as an updated anti-discrimination clause that includes a prohibition on discrimination due to union activity.

Another key improvement in the new contract is the addition of eligibility for part-time employees for the UFCW 1400 Health and Welfare Benefit Plan, which provides for sick days, prescriptions, paramedical services and vision, as well as eligibility for dental benefits under the UFCW 1400 Dental Plan.

"This contract strengthens our position as Canada's leading union and provides the membership with better wages, benefits and increased access to their union."
