UFCW Canada partners with Athabasca University for transfer credit program

Edmonton – July 22, 2016 – Canada’s leading union is proud to announce an exciting new partnership between Athabasca University and webCampus, UFCW Canada’s free online education and training program.

As part of this innovative partnership, UFCW Canada members and their families who successfully complete approved webCampus courses can have the courses transferred and recognized as a tuition-free contribution to select certificate and undergraduate programs offered through Athabasca University in Alberta.

Under the program, eligible participants can apply approved webCampus course credits toward university certificates and Bachelor of Arts degrees in the fields of Labour Studies and Human Resources and Labour Relations. Applicants must e-mail webCampus their intent to participate in this program to receive full details on time limits, costs, the registration process, and transfer credit equivalencies.

UFCW Canada National President Paul Meinema recently met with Jason Foster, Assistant Professor of Human Resources and Labour Relations at Athabasca University, to sign the historic partnership agreement at the UFCW Canada NDF Convention in Edmonton.

“UFCW Canada is proud to be working with Athabasca University to offer this valuable program to webCampus participants,” Meinema remarked at the signing.

“Given that all webCampus courses are free to UFCW Canada members and their families, participating in this program can provide significant cost savings for those interested in furthering their studies through Athabasca University,” he added.
