Workers at Ray Plastics achieve new collective agreement – UFCW 175

Toronto – December 6, 2016 – UFCW Canada Local 175 members working at Ray Plastics in Toronto have recently ratified a new collective agreement which includes wage increases and more.

Ray Plastics Ltd. is a contract plastic injection molding and assembly company that has been in operation for over 50 years.

As per the new agreement, all wage rates increase by 30 cents per hour in the first and second year, and 35 cents per hour in the final year of the three-year deal. There is also new language included which addresses the use of agency workers to prevent the layoff, displacement, and replacement of bargaining unit members.

New vacation language added also ensures that all current members may achieve the maximum vacation entitlement of seven weeks. The employer has also agreed to increasing its contributions to the UFCW Benefit Trust Fund to maintain health benefits and has also increased its contributions to the UFCW Canada Local 175 Training & Education Fund each year of the term.

The union negotiating committee included Minal Gandhi, Kuldeep Kaur, Yvonne Soliven and union representative Anthony DiMaio.
