Workers at Compass Group Canada join the union – UFCW 1006A

Toronto – February 9, 2017 – Workers at Compass Group Canada at the Rogers Campus in Toronto are the newest members of UFCW Canada Local 1006A after recently voting to join the union.

The Compass Group members work as cashiers, servers, and food preparation specialists for one of the largest providers of food and support services in Canada.

"What a great victory for workers at Compass Group, who came together and showed courage and determination in achieving union representation,” says Wayne Hanley, the President of UFCW Canada Local 1006A. “This was a worker-led campaign from the start, and I am proud to welcome the new members to the 1006A family. Together, we will achieve fairness at Compass Group,” he adds.

The Compass Group workers’ decision to join Local 1006A means that the local now represents approximately 50 members employed at various businesses at the Rogers Campus, including workers at Tim Hortons, Radio City Cafe, Pizza Pizza, and the campus cafeteria. The Rogers Campus is a series of connected buildings that house Rogers’ corporate head office and major media properties.
