Workers at UPS Supply Chain Solutions join the union – UFCW 1006AVaughan, Ont. – March 21, 2017 – Workers at UPS Supply Chain Solutions in Vaughan, Ontario are the newest members of UFCW Canada Local 1006A after recently voting to join the union.

“More and more workers are realizing that joining UFCW is the key to achieving fairness, respect, and dignity at work,” says Wayne Hanley, the President of UFCW Canada Local 1006A.

“I would like to congratulate the UPS workers on their breakthrough victory, and welcome them to the UFCW 1006A family. It takes courage and solidarity to affect change, and we look forward to working with the UPS employees to strengthen their workplace,” he adds.

UFCW Canada Local 1006A now represents more than 110 members at the UPS warehouse in Vaughan. The UPS members work as warehouse associates and dispatchers for the largest delivery company in the world.

Wage disparities, job security, seniority, and concerns about treatment at work were key reasons why the UPS workers decided to join UFCW Canada Local 1006A. The UPS employees are now stronger and more united than ever, with the strength and power of 36,000 UFCW 1006A members behind them.
