Members at Broadview Nursing Centre ratify new deal – UFCW 175

Smiths Falls, Ont. – August 11, 2017 – UFCW Canada Local 175 members working at Broadview Nursing Centre in Smiths Falls, Ontario have recently achieved a new collective agreement.  

The contract covers 59 full- and part-time employees who are part of the Local 175 Health, Office & Professional Employees (HOPE) sector.  

Over the three-year term, members will receive an initial wage increase of 1.4 percent –  including retroactive pay for hours worked in April 2017 – plus an additional 1.4 percent in years 2 and 3 of the contract.  

Members also achieved improved bereavement language that now includes siblings, step-parents, and step-children. In addition, there are important language improvements regarding harassment and bullying, and the grievance procedure.
