Food service members at University of Calgary Aramark win first contract – UFCW 401

Calgary – October 4, 2017 – UFCW Canada Local 401 members working for Aramark at the University of Calgary have overwhelmingly ratified their first union contract.

After months of difficult negotiations, the newly-unionized employees endorsed the hard work of their union negotiating committee by approving a new collective agreement that brings fairness to Aramark workers at the university.  

Local 401 would like to thank all of the members who stood by their union and each other with great persistence during negotiations. Many of the workers who attended the ratification meetings expressed a celebratory sigh of relief when they found out that their union had successfully negotiated a contract that will bring dignity to their workplace.

The Local Union would also like to give a special thank you to the following Aramark employees who spoke with courage and passion on behalf of their fellow workers during collective bargaining. They are:
