UFCW Canada endorses Team Moving Forward for OFL Executive

Toronto – November 8, 2015 – UFCW Canada is proud to endorse Team Moving Forward to continue building the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) and uniting the province’s labour movement over the next two years. The election of OFL officers will take place in Toronto at the 14th Biennial OFL Convention, scheduled for November 20 to 24.

Team Moving Forward consists of current OFL President Chris Buckley, Secretary-Treasurer Patty Coates, and Executive Vice-President Ahmad Gaied, a UFCW Canada activist who served as a Member Engagement Officer for Local 1006A before being elected to the OFL Executive Board in 2015. Under their leadership, the federation has achieved major legislative gains for workers, established a new disability prevention program, restored financial stability and transparency at the OFL, and united Ontario’s labour movement.

“Over the last two years, Team Moving Forward has revitalized the OFL by winning important labour law reforms, welcoming new affiliates, and putting the federation back on solid financial footing,” says UFCW Canada National President Paul Meinema. “UFCW Canada is proud to endorse the Moving Forward leadership team of Chris Buckley, Patty Coates, and Ahmad Gaied to continue their integral work in building, strengthening, and uniting Ontario’s labour movement going forward,” the UFCW leader adds.
