Members at McCain Foods vote ‘Yes’ on new agreement – UFCW 832Carberry, Man. – April 17, 2018 – UFCW Canada Local 832 members working at McCain Foods in Carberry, Manitoba have overwhelmingly voted in favour of a new four-year collective agreement.

The Carberry plant is one of the largest french fry production facilities in the country – processing over 430 million pounds of Manitoba-grown potatoes each year.

The new agreement contains yearly wage increases of 1.75 percent in the first year, 2.25 percent in years two and three of the contract, and 1.75 percent in year four. As well, members will receive an additional 3.5 percent wage adjustment for 14 different job classifications.

The union would like to thank the membership for their high level of participation in strike mandate meetings, and for the overwhelming support that was shown leading up to the strike deadline. This helped push the employer off several different concessions.

UFCW Canada Local 832 is Manitoba’s largest private sector union, representing over 18,000 members in a wide variety of industries, including the retail food, health care, food processing, security, industrial, textile, and transportation sectors.
