Young activists energized at UFCW 1400 Youth ConferenceSaskatoon, Sask. – July 27, 2018 – Young UFCW activists from across Saskatchewan recently gathered for the annual UFCW Canada Local 1400 Youth Conference. More than 40 young members brought their energy and activism to the two-day conference, July 24 and 25, held in Saskatoon.

The conference was organized by the Local 1400 Youth Committee. The young members participated in a number of “Speaking Out” workshops to build their voice and impact as unions activists and as community members.

Nicole Saurauer, the NDP MLA for Regina Douglas Park, was also a guest presenter at the conference and updated the participants on the latest news and issues at the Saskatchewan legislature. The Saskatoon Open Door Society also led a presentation on the impact of systemic racism and how to challenge it.

It was the biggest annual conference to date and the young members left feeling inspired and equipped with new knowledge to share in their workplace and community.
