Toronto – August 1, 2018 – UFCW Canada activists from Local 1006A and the national office recently joined thousands of families in Toronto to celebrate community and Caribbean culture at Junior Carnival.

Taking place every summer in Toronto, Junior Carnival kicks off the city’s annual Caribbean Festival that includes a number of events and the annual Caribana Parade, drawing millions of participants to the festivities.

Toronto includes one of North America’s largest Caribbean communities, with many of its members proudly calling UFCW their union.

UFCW Local Unions in Ontario have a long history with the Caribana festival, proudly playing mas, or masquerading, with the Louis Saldenah camp, which has won Band of the Year eighteen times over the festival’s many decades.
