Support striking UFCW members at Stop & Shop

Hospitality members at Manitoulin Hotel & Conference Centre win gainsBoston, Massachusetts – April 18, 2019 – Attention all UFCW Canada activists and allies – UFCW members in New England need your help!

Last Thursday, the 31,000 hardworking members of UFCW Locals 328, 371, 919, 1445, and 1459 working at 240 Stop & Shop grocery stores across Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island walked off the job to protest the company’s proposal to slash their health care and retirement benefits, sick days, and take-home pay.

The members are also protesting Stop & Shop’s unfair labor practices, including the company’s refusal to provide the union with basic financial information.

Workers at the New England Stop & Shop locations have been trying to negotiate a fair contract since January 14. Since walking off the job on April 11, these brave members have been growing picket lines across the region, and now they need your help.

Sign and share UFCW’s petition to support the 31,000 members who are fighting for affordable health care and better wages.

Even though Stop & Shop’s corporate owner made two billion dollars in profits last year, the company is asking the workers who have made them a success to take a health care benefit and take-home pay cut.

Enough is enough! Please sign the petition to tell Stop & Shop that its employees have earned and deserve better. Please also share the petition with your friends, families, coworkers, and as many allies as you can. It is time we send a clear message to irresponsible companies like Stop & Stop. Take action today!
