New webCampus courses can help you become a better labour activist
Toronto – August 15, 2019 – UFCW Canada's ground-breaking online education program, webCampus, has launched four new labour studies courses that can help you conduct effective meetings and investigations, get involved in activism, and be more inclusive at work and in your community.
The free online courses are being offered in English and are available to all UFCW Canada members and their family members, as well as our community partners.
The new courses are described as follows:
Effective Meetings: When conducting a meeting, it is important to ensure that everyone’s rights are respected. This course will help you learn the essential components of conducting an effective meeting, whether you are observing, participating in, or leading the meeting.
Investigations: “Innocent until proven guilty” continues to be the foundation of democracy at work. By taking this course, union members and stewards will learn the skills needed to uncover all the facts and defend workers’ rights on the job.
Making a Difference – Canadian Activism: Throughout history, countless Canadians have helped make a difference in the lives of their fellow citizens by engaging in activism. When Canadians recognize a challenge, they find the courage to face it. This course will help you learn more about activism in the Canadian context.
Being Inclusive: Standing up for human rights is fundamental to the work of trade unions, as we believe that an injury to one is an injury to all. Accordingly, it is important for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans members to know that the union belongs to them as much as it belongs to other members. This course will help you learn how to be more inclusive at work and in your community.
