Kim Novak elected UFCW International Vice-President

Washington, D.C. – February 26, 2020 – UFCW Canada Local 1518 president and activist Kim Novak is now an International Vice President after being elected unanimously to the UFCW International Executive Board.

Sister Novak joins National President and International Executive Vice President Paul Meinema, and International Vice Presidents Wayne Hanley, Antonio Filato, Shawn Haggerty, and Suzanne Hodge on the board to represent the perspectives of UFCW Canada members, and to lead the union’s efforts to build a better life for workers throughout North America.

Novak began her career with UFCW 1518 in 2007 working in the Local Union’s Communications Department. She then went on to serve as a Union Representative and Director, before becoming Secretary-Treasurer of the Local in 2015. After serving in that leadership role for four years, Kim was elected President of UFCW Local 1518 in January 2019.

“Sister Novak is a dedicated and passionate union activist who has done a formidable job of advocating for the rights of UFCW 1518 members, and she brings a strong and proud commitment to member engagement, education, and worker empowerment to her new role as UFCW International Vice President,” says National President Meinema.
