UFCW Canada gets sneak peek of new Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR)

Winnipeg – March 29, 2013 – National President Wayne Hanley and UFCW Canada Local 832 leaders including President Jeff Traeger recently got a sneak peek of the yet-to-be opened Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights organized the tour to thank UFCW Canada for its exceptional support and friendship for the CMHR project. The Canadian Museum for Human Rights will open in 2014 and feature a number of inspiring exhibits about the national and international struggle for fairness, and the notable achievements of the human rights movement.

“The development of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights is an outstanding accomplishment that promises to set a new standard for learning and engagement that involves Canadians and people from around the world in meaningful discussions and mobilizations against hate and oppression,” says Brother Hanley. “While the CMHR was made possible through the efforts of many individuals and organizations, Local 832 deserves special mention for its tremendous leadership in making the CMHR an essential symbol and learning centre for all.”
