TSM Security Guards Vote to Join the Union, UFCW Canada Local 333

UFCW Canada YESToronto – October 31, 2013 – Security guard workers at Total Security Management (TSM) are now members of UFCW Canada Local 333 after voting to join the union in September 2013. The new Local 333 members work for TSM at the Consilium Place office complex in Scarborough City Centre in Toronto.

Workers voted overwhelmingly in favour of joining the union in order to achieve fair wages and secure a strong voice in their workplace. The TSM employees were also eager to join Local 333 because of its extensive experience in representing security guards and its reputation as an effective advocate for security workers' interests at the collective bargaining table.

The Local Union will be conducting first contract negotiations with the employer this November and expects to have a collective agreement ratified shortly thereafter.

"We continue to increase our density in the security industry to ensure that more security workers can make a living wage, have a reasonable pension, and enjoy a decent way of life with their families," says UFCW Canada Local 333 President Richard McNaughton. "This is an important victory for the TSM workers and we are excited to welcome the new members to our great union."
