together works members achieve new contract

Montreal – January 13, 2014 – UFCW Canada Local 500 members at both Laminage Farnham production facilities in Farnham, Quebec have ratified a new 39-month collective agreement. The contract provides 75% of the employees an average 9.36% wage increase, retroactive to July 1, 2013, with acceleration in the wage progression. Employees at the top of the pay scale will get a 6% increase in their rate of pay for the duration of the new agreement.

‘‘We are very proud to represent workers who are employed at Laminage Farnham, which is located in the Montérégie region and specializes in the making of furniture components for all schools in Quebec and elsewhere in Canada as well," says UFCW Canada Local 500 President Antonio Filato.

"Not only does the new contract include an improvement in the wage conditions. It will also allow this flagship Quebec firm to go on developing its markets in order to deal with the competition from emerging countries. This is a fine example of an agreement that is satisfactory to both parties’’, says Brother Filato.
