New webCampus courses for March

New webCampus courses for MarchToronto – February 23, 2014 – UFCW Canada’s groundbreaking online education program, webCampus, is launching two new courses for the month of March. The free online courses – one in English and another in French – are being offered from March 3rd to 28th and are available to all UFCW Canada members and their families, as well as our community partners. The course descriptions can be found below.

Dealing with Customer Rage – English ONLY

March 3 – 28, 2014

Many of our members are on the front lines of customer service, which means they face the majority of complaints. While some employers attempt to provide their workers with customer service skills and training, few do an adequate job of ensuring that employees have the tools to deal with threats from angry customers.

This course will help participants define workplace violence and familiarize themselves with existing legislation that protects workers from violence, threats, and harassment in the workplace. Participants will also learn to handle situations in which others are angry and examine strategies that can help them respond appropriately.

Infectious Diseases – New in French

March 3 – 28, 2014

Infectious diseases are a constant health and safety hazard for health care workers, many of whom have died caring for the sick when epidemics of infectious diseases have swept through an area. But now workers in other fields are becoming more aware of the risks of exposure that they face on the job, and the consequences of contracting an infectious disease.

Infectious diseases can affect all workers – not just those who come in direct contact with patients, clients, children, or animals. The goal of this course is to increase participants' awareness of infectious diseases by examining their transmission, health effects, and control measures, and analyzing strategies that can protect workers from contracting such diseases.

Registration for both courses is now open. To register, visit the webCampus website today.
