UFCW 206 members achieve new contract at Garda SecurityHamilton, Ont. – April 9, 2014 – Over three hundred UFCW Canada Local 206 members working at Garda Security locations across Ontario recently ratified a new four-year collective bargaining agreement.

As part of the new contract, the security guard members – who provide risk management services to a range of companies throughout the province – will receive wage increases and improved health and welfare benefits, as well as increases in meal allowances, improved overtime provisions, and protection for existing health and safety language.

The collective agreement also establishes a set of criteria and standards that the company will be required to follow when bidding on contracts for new worksites. In keeping with the UFCW International Union's Unity and Growth Agenda, these provisions will provide job security for the Local 206 members moving forward.

"By working together, the Garda Security members were able to negotiate an impressive agreement that provides across-the-board improvements and protects good jobs," says UFCW Canada Local 206 President Wayne Hanley. "We are very pleased with this contract and we congratulate the bargaining committee on a job well done," Brother Hanley adds.
