Members at Bagel Maguire achieve first collective agreement

Quebec City – July 7, 2014 – UFCW Canada Local 503 is proud to announce that members working at Bagel Maguire Inc. have ratified a first collective agreement.

The members at this bagel production facility are employed as labourers, dough mixers, machine operators, shipping and receiving attendants, sanitation workers, maintenance technicians and maintenance technician apprentices. The collective agreement runs untilJune 3, 2017.

The contract includes language on union duties, seniority, discipline, wages, vacations, etc. Among other highlights of the agreement, the members achieved a 2% annual wage increase over the term. The contract also provides bonuses as follows: $0.50 per hour worked temporarily in a higher position; $1.00 per hour worked as lead hand; and $0.75 per hour worked during the evening or night shift. Provisions for additional paid sick days were also achieved.
