Toronto – May 16, 2014 – More than 300 employees of OTG have voted overwhelmingly in favour of joining UFCW Canada Local 206. The employees work in a variety of restaurants at Pearson International Airport in Toronto.
Mississauga, Ont. – May 16, 2014 – UFCW Canada Local 175 members working at Ottawa Flyer Force have achieved a first collective agreement. The company is the leading flyer distribution firm in Ottawa. The new members at Flyer Force collate, package and deliver flyers and advertising materials in the greater Ottawa area.
Toronto – May 19, 2014 – The United Nations has issued a report calling on the Harper government to hold a national inquiry into missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls in Canada. James Anaya, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, says the plight of Aboriginal nations in Canada has “reached crisis proportions” and is something which all levels of government need to address immediately.
