After six long and painful years, the family of Kevan Chandler – an Alberta worker who was killed in a grain elevator accident on Father's Day in 2006 – has received compensation for his death.
According to a recent Statistics Canada release, the consumer prices rose slightly in the 12 month to September and remained unchanged from August at 1.2%. The annual inflation therefore at 1.2%, seems to be under no building pressures for now, but the increased household debt and the soaring prices in the real estate remain a great source of concern.
Workers at Selkirk Marketplace are the newest members of UFCW Local 832 after voting to join the union on October 25th. The Manitoba Labour Board conducted the certification vote after more than 40 per cent of employees signed union cards.
