UFCW Canada activists from Manitoba, Ontario, and Nova Scotia recently gathered in Niagara Falls to participate in the second phase of an exciting new training program offered by the national Education and Political Action Committee (EPAC).
The total contributions have been tallied and UFCW activists in Canada and the United States have combined their efforts to raise nearly $500,000 for the Haiti relief effort.
On the May 29 weekend, Ontario’s primary beer retailer The Beer Store, in partnership with UFCW Canada Local 12R24 will be holding the annual Returns for Leukemia bottle drive fundraiser at every Beer Store location across the province.

Activists, academics, unionists, and the media recently packed the Tinto Café in downtown Toronto to take part in a UFCW Canada sponsored event called Education Has No Borders that provided community members with a fun-filled opportunity to see and try new migrant worker resources and discuss the empowering effect of education.
The members of the UFCW United Latinos Executive Board recently gathered in Toronto to talk about the critical issues facing Latino North American workers, plan for the upcoming United Latinos Convention in Las Vegas, and mark the group's first-ever meeting in Canada.
Excitement continues to build around UFCW Canada’s groundbreaking webCampus program. Since it was launched in January 2009, more than 5,000 UFCW Canada members and their families, as well as social partners from across Canada, have enjoyed the benefits of close to 100 English and French free online courses.
During the last weekend of May, UFCW Canada Local 12R24 and The Beer Store once again teamed up for the annual “Returns for Leukemia” bottle drive, which invites people to donate their bottle deposit refunds, pocket change and checkout contributions to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC).
