UFCW 401 joins 30,000-plus at Edmonton PRIDE parade
Edmonton – June 19, 2013 – UFCW Canada Local 401 activists recently took pride in Edmonton by standing with more than 30,000 community members in the city’s most successful PRIDE parade ever.

Denver - June 17, 2013 - Over 200 UFCW activists, labour allies, community members, and former Zellers workers converged on the Target annual shareholders' meeting in Denver, Colorado to demand the corporation respect workers' rights. Former Zellers worker Angela Rankin traveled from Toronto with UFCW Canada national representative Kevin Shimmin to confront Target CEO Gregg Steinhafel. Rankine was joined by members of UFCW Local 7 from Colorado; SEIU members from Minnesota; community groups from across the United States, and Minnesota State Representative Raymond Dehn.
Migrant workers are parents too. Each season, migrant agricultural workers leave their families for as long as three years to do hard and gruelling work to put food on the tables of Canadian families.
Toronto – June 11, 2013 – UFCW Canada activists joined thousands of community members across the country in walking and sending letters to demand an equal future for First Nations children on June 11th, the National Day of Reconciliation with Aboriginal communities. Dozens of National Office staff and Local Union activists signed letters to Government Boss Stephen Harper and other Members of Parliament demanding support for culturally-based equity for First Nations children, and then walked to a nearby mailbox to send the letters to Ottawa.
Montreal – June 10, 2013 –The announcement of a new investment of $55 Million to expand the Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Canada (GMCR Canada) coffee factory located in the Saint-Michel area in Montréal has been met enthusiastically by UFCW Canada Local 501 which represents unionized workers at the facility.
Toronto – June 9, 2013 – As reported in the Toronto Star, the federal Canadian Privacy Commissioner Jennifer Stoddart has found that Dr. Cindy Blackstock, Executive Director of the First Nations Children and Family Caring Society (FNCFCS), has been the subject of surveillance by the Tory Government in Ottawa.
