Montreal – April 20, 2017 – UFCW Canada Local 501 members working at Brault & Martineau stores in Laval, Repentigny, and Saint-Léonard, Quebec took part in a peaceful public demonstration during the annual shareholders meeting of the BMTC Group, the company that owns Brault & Martineau.

The demonstration had two goals: to denounce the employer’s bad faith bargaining and the repressive anti-union strategies that it has used to discourage its workers from joining the union; and to ask the BMTC shareholders to intervene in these matters to ensure fairness for workers at Brault & Martineau.

During the demonstration, UFCW Canada Local 501 activists raised awareness of BMTC’s history of trampling on workers’ rights, and directed demonstrators to the Local’s website on this issue, which can be found here: www.tuac501.org/brault.
