Light the Night this fall in support of Leukemia research and outreach

Toronto – September 16, 2017 – The Light the Night season is once again upon us and with that comes a number of walks and community events aimed at raising funds and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC).

From coast to coast, the annual Light the Night Walk takes place in cities and communities across Canada to raise money for the LLSC’s vital support services, advocacy, and life-saving research for those battling leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and other blood cancers.

For over three decades, UFCW Canada members and community allies have organized and participated in numerous fundraising activities for the LLSC – including raffles, community picnics, 50-50 draws, car washes, sports tournaments, ride-a-thons, marathons, relays, and Light the Night walks. To date, UFCW Canada has raised over $38 million in the fight against blood cancers, making our union the LLSC's most valued partner.

The annual Light the Night Walk sees friends, families, and co-workers form fundraising teams and walk in unity at twilight, each holding an illuminated lantern with red for supporters, white for patients and survivors, and gold to remember loved ones lost. The lanterns are intended to symbolize light in the dark world of cancer. And UFCW Canada and its Local Unions are proud to support Light the Night Walks all across the country.

We encourage UFCW members and their families to get involved in this year’s Light the Night season. Below is a list of Light the Night walks and community events from coast to coast:
