UFCW 864 member an iPad winner of UFCW BDM Scholarship Contest

Kentville, N.S. – December 2, 2017 – Congratulations to UFCW Canada Local 864 member Karen Atwater, one of two winners of an Apple iPad for referring other union members to apply for the 2017 UFCW Canada - BDM Scholarship.

To create more awareness of this renowned union scholarship, UFCW Canada holds an annual referral contest that attracts hundreds of additional scholarship applications. As part of the contest, every member who refers an eligible student to apply for a UFCW Canada - BDM Scholarship receives a chance to win a brand new Apple iPad.

Sister Atwater, who works at Xerium in Kentville, Nova Scotia, encouraged many members to apply for the 2017 scholarship.

"I am grateful to my union for continuing to help post-secondary students at a time when tuition costs are skyrocketing," says Karen. "I know how useful the scholarship funds can be and I wanted to do what I could to help others by making them aware of this opportunity,” she adds.
