Toronto – June 22, 2019 – In celebration of the first Filipino Heritage Month in Canada, Philippine Advancement through Arts and Culture (PATAC) recently highlighted inspiring individuals of Filipino Heritage at a week-long exhibit held at the City of Toronto’s Metro Hall.

At the exhibit, UFCW Canada National Representative Alex Banaag was honoured as a Filipino-Canadian advocate of Labour and Social Justice for his years of organizing work with Canada’s leading union.

“I am thrilled to be recognized by PATAC as a proud Filipino Canadian working hard to make a difference in the labour movement,” says Banaag. “I would like to thank PATAC for awarding me this wonderful honour and also thank UFCW for supporting me in my work as an organizer,” he adds.

Under the theme “Celebrate, Inspire, and Unite,” the five-day exhibit featured photo portraits of each honouree as well as profiles detailing their important work and contributions to the Filipino community.

PATAC is a network of concerned citizens and organizations who work together to advance the issues, community work, and culture of Filipino Canadians. To learn more about PATAC, visit their website.
