Ottawa – June 18, 2021 – Newly-elected CLC President Bea Bruske and members of Team Unite humbly accepted victory as thousands of delegates at the CLC 29th Constitutional Convention elected the Team to strenghten and unite Canada’s labour movement.
“My friends, I am ready to take on the hard work needed to lead the fight for decent work, a just transition, and a more equitable economy that benefits everyone,” said Bea Bruske, CLC President. “Getting there will not be easy, but I know Canada’s unions can and will rise to the task.”
Team Unite makes history as the CLC’s first-ever all-women slate to be elected in executive positions at the helm of the country’s labour movement. Lily Chang, CLC Secretary-Treasurer, and Siobhan Vipond, CLC Executive Vice-President, will be joined by Larry Rousseau, CLC Executive Vice-President, after his successful re-election campaign.
Delegates concluded the CLC 29th Constitutional Convention passing numerous resolutions that will shape the future of Canada’s labour movement.
Resolutions that would see the labour movement focus resources on tackling gig economy employment, combatting hate, and advancing reconciliation with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples were passionately debated and passed by delegates.
