UFCW sisters from across North America gathered for the UNI Global Union 6th World Women's Conference held in Philadelphia from August 26 - 27, 2023

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – September 1, 2023 – UFCW activists joined hundreds of women trade union leaders from UNI affiliates across the world for the UNI Global Union’s 6th World Women’s Conference.

Uniting under the theme Rising Together, the two-day conference included women workers from every continent. Together, activists discussed ways to strengthen women’s representation, visibility, and voice in unions and the global economy.

The conference addressed and passed resolutions on the key challenges facing women in the workplace today including women rising in unions, health and safety, eliminating violence and harassment, decent work, and addressing issues young workers face at work today.

“It is important that we continue to engage, educate, and excite, women and young workers across the globe,” says Debora De Angelis, Ontario Regional Director for UFCW Canada and Chair of the UFCW Women and Gender Equity Committee in her address to conference attendees. “Our collective voices are strong and together, we have nothing to lose and everything to gain,” she adds.
