Shelter Service Workers Join Union – UFCW 1006A

Cobourg, Ont. – March 6, 2025 – Workers at Transition House Coalition of Northumberland in Cobourg have voted to join UFCW 1006A.
The new bargaining unit is comprised of 19 members, who are Shelter Services workers.
Key issues that led to workers joining the union included health and safety, job security, wages and benefits.

Together, we are empowering members to create fairer workplaces.”
Transition House is integral to the community, serving as the only emergency shelter in Nothumberland country. The organization provides safe and supportive temporary housing, life skills and transition support to people from Cobourg, Port Hope, Grafton, Colborne, Campbellford, Brighton, Hamilton Township, and Alderville.
