UFCW Saskatchewan Provincial Council builds member engagement
Saskatoon, Sask. – May 26, 2025 – The recent UFCW Saskatchewan Provincial Council Annual General Meeting (AGM) brought together the largest group of members seen in years, with over 60 delegates from UFCW Locals 1400, 649, and 248P attending the two-day event.
Held with the goal of strengthening unity and sharing progress, the AGM served as a vital platform for delegates to report on the important work being done both provincially and nationally through participation on various committees.
UFCW Canada National President Shawn Haggerty addressed delegates, delivering greetings and providing thoughtful analysis of the challenges currently facing workers across the country. His remarks helped frame the importance of continued advocacy and solidarity in an ever-changing labour landscape.
Throughout the AGM, delegates took part in meaningful discussions and skill-building sessions, including a workshop focused on conflict resolution and strategies to better support vulnerable populations in our communities. These sessions were designed not only to empower members but also to enhance the capacity of locals to provide critical services where they are most needed.
“This year’s AGM truly showcased the strength and solidarity of UFCW members throughout Saskatchewan,” says Tammy Gust, President of the UFCW Saskatchewan Provincial Council. “With increasing member participation and a strong emphasis on community, education, and advocacy, it was a clear reflection of our ongoing commitment to building an engaged and effective membership across the province.”
