First collective agreement for manufacturing workers – UFCW 1991-P

Repentigny, Que. – June 3, 2025 – UFCW Local 1991-P is proud to announce that their new members working at Lambro plant in La Prairie, Quebec, have officially signed their very first collective agreement. This concludes a negotiation process started after their union certification on March 3, 2024. The agreement, ratified at 84% after a meeting held on April 29, 2025, marks a significant step forward for those over forty workers, who hold positions such as operators, mechanics and lift truck operators.
The result of nine negotiation meetings, the collective agreement came into effect last May 9, and will be active for three years, i.e., until May 2028. This new contract establishes a clear and structured framework regarding the working conditions and reflects the priorities expressed by the members throughout the process.
The highlights of this agreement include the introduction of the employer’s contribution to the Fonds de solidarité FTQ, the addition of sick days bringing them to five, a productivity premium from $2 to $4 per hour depending on performance, as well as a seniority recognition with access to five weeks of vacation after twenty years of service. A signing bonus has also been obtained by the members with the contract coming into force.
“This first collective agreement constitutes an important milestone for our members from this production plant of ventilation products. It demonstrates that, when we unite and speak in one voice, we can improve our working conditions and obtain long-lasting protection. I want to underline their engagement and their solidarity throughout this process” explains Janick Vallières, UFCW 1991-P President.
